Mida Creek Dhow Sunset Cruise & Seafood Feast
Sail a hand-carved dhow through mangrove channels as flamingos and fish eagles fill the sky in the last light of day.
Marine & Beach
Watamu Marine National Park is one of the most biodiverse reef systems on the East African coast — a protected mosaic of coral gardens, seagrass meadows and mangrove channels teeming with over 600 species of fish. This full-day marine safari puts you in the water with a certified local skipper and guide who has spent a lifetime reading these reefs, steering you to the healthiest coral heads, resident green turtle cleaning stations and the famous 'Whale Island' drop-off. Between snorkel sessions, relax aboard a traditional glass-viewing boat as it drifts across lagoons so clear you can count the starfish on the seabed six metres down. The day closes with a fresh seafood lunch on a private stretch of sand, feet in the water, before the return cruise home in the golden afternoon light.
Depart Watamu jetty at 8:30am aboard a traditional dhow fitted with snorkel gear and life vests for every guest. Your skipper navigates the marked channel into the National Park, anchoring at the first of three reef sites chosen for the day's tide and current. Snorkel among parrotfish, moray eels, lionfish and — with good fortune — reef sharks and eagle rays cruising the drop-offs. Mid-morning, cruise slowly over the seagrass beds where green turtles graze, watched respectfully from the glass-viewing hull. By early afternoon you'll land on a private sandbar for a barbecue of the morning's catch, tropical fruit and cold drinks, before a final swim and the leisurely sail home as the light turns gold.
