Marine & Beach
Twice a day the tide retreats to reveal a pristine white sandbank rising from the turquoise shallows off Watamu — a location so cinematic it's become the coast's favourite spot for a barefoot, private-island escape. This trip sails you out by traditional boat to claim a stretch of sand for the day, with nothing but sea, sky and horizon in every direction. Swim in bathwater-warm shallows, hunt for starfish and sand dollars, or simply recline under a beach umbrella while our crew fires up a driftwood barbecue of fresh fish, prawns and tropical fruit. It's the postcard moment every guest asks for — and one of the very few places on the coast where you can genuinely have an entire sandbank to yourselves.
Depart by traditional boat mid-morning, timed precisely to the tide so the sandbank is fully exposed on arrival. Our crew sets up shade, loungers and a driftwood grill while you swim, snorkel the fringing shallows or simply sink your feet into the sand. Lunch is a barbecue of the day's fresh catch with coastal sides, followed by a lazy afternoon before the return sail as the bank slips back beneath the tide.
